Sangamon Songs: A Musical Play is based on an 1893 diary written by a 16 year-old farm boy from Sangamon County in central Illinois with music and lyrics by Tom Irwin and script adaptation by John W. Arden. The two-act performance blends historical facts in a musical production using songs, narration and images. Performers include Tom Irwin (narrator, vocals, guitar, harmonica), John Gifford Irwin (Harry Glen Ludlam, vocals, trumpet), Owen Thomas Irwin (guitar) and Polly Launay (violin) with techincal production by Jamie Merideth.
