This is a sticky post. The latest Gut Check post follows this one.
Have you been dreaming of a career in the glamorous world of food blogging? Now's your chance! Gut Check currently has several opportunities.
1) We are looking for a freelancer to assemble and post regular Gut Check features, including the "Morning Brew" news round-up, "FoodWire" restaurant updates and our weekly digest of St. Louis food blogs. Applicants should possess a keen interest in issues pertaining to food and restaurants locally, nationally and globally. Familiarity with blogging software such as Movable Type is a plus.
2) We are looking for a freelancer to write the Drink of the Week
column immortalized by former RFT staff writer Randall Roberts and
current RFT editorial operations manager Kristie McClanahan. Applicants
should be passionate about beer, wine, spirits, cocktails and
non-alcoholic beverages -- and the people who make them. Applicants
should read a generous sampling of previous Drink of the Week columns
to understand the lively prose style and engaging stories for which
this column became well known.
3) We are once again seeking freelance writers to produce original,
recurring content in the vein of our other columns: the Noble Writ,
Java Enabled, the Sneak, Throwback of the House, the Dive Bomber, and A
Table for How Many? Applicants should be familiar with how Gut Check
covers food, drink and restaurants in St. Louis -- and should have the
confidence and imagination to tell us what our coverage is missing.
For all applicants: Access to a reliable Internet connection as well as
the ability to write clean copy and to adhere to deadlines are absolute
musts.
Interested? Email me with the subject heading
"GUT CHECK FREELANCER" (#1), "GUT CHECK DRINK OF THE WEEK" (#2) or "GUT
CHECK IDEAS" (#3). Introduce yourself (a resume is fine but not
necessary), tell me why you're interested in writing for Gut Check and
attach a writing sample. This sample can be something you've published
or blogged, or it could be an example of the sort of post you would
like to write.
