Since the 1970s, Oklahoma city has had a string of queer bars known as "The Strip" along 39th Street. Behind them was the 170-room Habana Inn, an LGBTQ-friendly hotel. Fast forward to today, and 39th Street District is still going strong. Habana Inn is now The District Hotel, and new clubs and bars have moved into the strip, but the hotel and the district have created a backstop for each other to thrive in Oklahoma City.
