The Fall Funk Ball brought music lovers to Off Broadway Saturday, with local Dogtown Records promising the evening as the first of what could be an annual event.
The night featured two artists on the label, Giant Quintet and the Service, as well as special guests the St. Boogie Brass Band. St. Louis native Grover Stewart Jr. joined Giant Quintet on the drums, and then stayed on stage for his band the Service. The band also featured guitarist Pete Lombardo, who madea a triumphant homecoming since being deployed in Qatar since June.
Dogtown Records was founded in 2014 by Andy Coco, who until recently DJed The Rhythm Section on KDHX and himself plays in a number of funk-soul bands around St. Louis.
Photographer Max Bouvatte was at Off Broadway on Saturday to capture all the highlights.
